I have received over R4,500 in 2008 from Discovery Credit Card cash backs (rewards).... it's time you got your own Visa Discovery Credit Card and started beefing up your Vitality status to earn a higher percentage of cash back. IMHO, it's one of the best cash back credit cards in South Africa - especially if you manage to get to Diamond Vitality level. BTW, it's a Visa credit card.
I have updated my calculator DiscoveryCardCalculator2009 where you can enter transactions and see how it works.
Updated to include "Vitality HealthyFood": here's a summary of how this reward works:
When you activate the HealthyFood benefit (from end Feb2009) you’ll save 15% and when you
complete a Personal Health Review you’ll qualify for a 25% saving. Remember, the main member and spouse dependent must complete a Personal Health Review to get the 25% saving
You also earn 10 Vitality points for every HealthyFood you buy up to a maximum of 500 Vitality points a month per Vitality membership.
You save on HealthyFood up to the number of Vitality points you have earned.
Single members’ saving on a maximum of R2 000 a month spent on HealthyFood (up to the value of Vitality points available)
Families can spend a maximum of R4 000 a month on HealthyFood (up to the value of Vitality points available)
{See worksheet "DiscoveryCardInfo" for the calculator.}
See the "DiscoveryCardInfo" worksheet for general info and HealthyFood calculator.
See the "Instructions" worksheet for info on how to use the calculator.
See the "MarSavings" worksheet for an example page showing calculations on the monthly savings.
See the "BankCharges" worksheet for the list of charges for 2009.
Some more info on Discovery Vitality:
Remember, if you're on Blue level then you're not getting the most from your Vitality subscription
eg. comparing Blue vs Gold benefits:
British Airways: 5% vs 20%
Kulula: 15% vs 30%
Southern Sun: 30% vs 45%
Magazine subscriptions: 1 vs 6
Discovery credit card: 10% vs 15% [20% if you're on Diamond]
Pick 'n Pay: 5% vs 8% [10% if you're on Diamond]
Contiki: 15% vs 20%
Vitality Youth: did you know that if your child goes for dental checkup or for a Vitality Wellness Assessment, s/he can watch any Ster Kinekor movie (before 19h00) for FREE for the rest of the calendar year (until the end of the following year)!

ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words!
I'm really glad it was of use to you. I hope you browsed around - there's lots more where that came from. Look out for the section called "HTT's famous calculators" on the left panel of each page.
Come back soon
