How to claim

Claiming from the Scheme

Please remember that If your healthcare professional has sent us the claim, you do not need to send us another copy.

You can send in your claims in one of these ways:

  • Email

  • Post

  • Fax

  • Claims drop-off boxes

Email

You can also scan and email your claims to claims@discovery.co.za

Post

You can post your claims to the following address:

Discovery - Claims

PO Box 784262

Sandton

2146

Fax

You can fax your claims to fax number 0860 FAXCLAIMS or 0860 329 252 (please make sure the fax details are clear – to make sure it is clear you can make a photocopy and fax that through).

Claims drop-off boxes

You can drop off your claims in our claims drop-off boxes situated around the country, in convenient places such as pharmacies and medical practices, as well as at Virgin Active or Planet Fitness gyms.

Please remember

When sending claims to the scheme:

You must submit your claims within four months otherwise we'll consider them expired and will not pay for them.

  • make sure your membership number, the medical professional’s details and practice number can be seen clearly on the claim

  • send us a detailed claim (not just the receipt). We need the details of what is being claimed for, the practice number, and so on, so that we can process your claim quickly and correctly.

  • remember that if your medical professional sends the claim to us electronically, you don’t need to send a copy in.

What happens after you send in your claim

Once we receive your claim, we scan it and capture it on our system. An assessor will then assess the claim and make sure all the information on the claim matches the information we have on record for the patient.

If you want to track the progress of your claims, you can log in to the site and use the Claims Search tool, or you can call 0860 99 88 77 and follow the phone voice prompts, or just SMS 'Claim' to 31347.
