Blackberry Desktop Manager Sync Error 0x80040fb3 and 0x8004fceb [Solved!]

If you are pulling your hair out trying to get your Outlook calendar to sync to your Blackberry calendar then perhaps this will help you sort it out.

Here’s the problem that I was having with my Blackberry Bold 9700 (OS6) sync using Blackberry Desktop Manager (BDM) version 6.1.0.35:

An error popped up “Conflict Resolution - Calendar”:
image   then:   image
No matter which option I selected, it resulted in this 0x80040fb3 error message (and also 0x8004fceb):
image

At a later date I also got an error: "Blackberry Intellisync error 0x8004fceb - Flexible Web Services"

The following forum helped with lots of options to try – but none helped.
I decided to play with the mappings and I noticed that the conflicts always failed when the “Attendees” field was listed… image

So I tried UNmapping that field:
Organiser->Configure settings->Advanced->Map Fields-> then UNmap the ‘Attendees’ field as shown in the screen shots below:
image   image image

(Note: The "Reset" button also works)

Retry the sync process and it worked! :) :)

If this doesn't work for you then perhaps this info from the Blackberry Forums will:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-software/137009-help-dm-sync-error-0x80040fb3.html

For more info – when the sync was failing the following appeared in the log file (not that it helped me much!):
The log file: "c:\Users\{YourName}\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Intellisync\{YourBB_PIN}\RIM.Log" contained the following info and error:

Activations list for Discovery Vitality 2012; and what’s new in Vitality 2012?

One of the many things that has changed in Discovery Vitality’s rules for 2012 is the number of activations that you need to do to get maximum benefits from the cashbacks.  This blog article is intended to highlight all the activations that you need to do so as to get the maximum discounts this year.  I will also try to list some of the changes as compared to the 2011 Vitality “rules”.
Please add a comment if I’ve missed something…

Let’s start with the activations that you need to do this year:
Clicks MedSaver: is available to Discovery Health members and gives up to 25% cash back on all Schedule 1 and 2 (OTC or Over The Counter) medicines purchased from any Clicks pharmacy nationwide.  By activating MedSaver, you will automatically qualify for 10% cash back on your Schedule 1 and 2 medicine purchases at any Clicks pharmacy.
To get the full 25% cash back, you and all your dependants (18 and above) must complete a VitalityCheck.  You can complete a VitalityCheck at a Clicks pharmacy or a pharmacy in our Vitality Wellness Network or your employer's wellness day.

In order to get your cash back you need to show your membership card at Clicks when you purchase Schedule 1 and 2 medicine.

Discovery will pay the cash back into your nominated back account once a month.

The maximum spend that qualifies for cash back in a month per family is R1,500. If you spend more than R1,500 in a month on schedule 1 and 2 medicines, the amount above R1,500 will not attract cash back.
imageTo activate (and get 10%), login and go here: https://www.discovery.co.za/portal/individual/medsaver
To get 25% you and all your dependants (18 and above) must complete a VitalityCheck at a pharmacy (get on the scale, measure your waist, finger prick for sugar and cholesterol check)… while you are there, get a voluntary HIV test (using the same finger prick!) and earn an additional 5,000 points each.

Pick ‘n Pay:
Did you notice that Pick ‘n Pay is no longer a partner store? – there are no more cashback from Discovery directly….
Now via Pick ‘n Pay’s Smart Shopper program.

If you have a DiscoveryCard then you can boost you Pick ‘n Pay Smart Shopper Points by up to 10 times with the DiscoveryCard Smart Shopper Multiplier.  The multiplier you can get depends on your Vitality Status. The higher your status, the more your points are multiplied.

At first glance, I thought that everyone would lose out – but on closer inspection it seems that the Gold and Diamond members get the same discount as in 2011, but the lower tiers will lose out: Silver 2011 got 7% off, in 2012 it will be 6%; Bronze was 6%, now 4%; Blue was 5%, now 2%.
Also, since Pick ‘n Pay is no longer a partner store, the overall monthly limit of R10,000 will not include purchases from Pick ‘n Pay.

Control your Android phone from your PC

I have been playing with an Android phone and decided to try and use a real keyboard rather than the (small) touch screen virtual keyboard.  I found a wonderful tool that allows you to take control of your Android (or SonyEricsson) phone.  It is called MyPhoneExplorer and connects to your phone via USB cable, Bluetooth or infrared. So, I can now send WhatsApp messages using my real keyboard… and more:
image
You can also use it to sync your contacts (address book) - with direct sync to Outlook, GMail, Windows contacts, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, Lotus Notes and Tobit David
You can also use it to sync your calendar and direct sync to Outlook, Google, Sunbird, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, Windows calendar (Vista), Rainlendar, Lotus Notes, Tobit David and net shared calendars (WebDAV, FTP, local)

You can also use it to send SMSs and also back them up to your PC.
There’s a file browser with a cacheing system to minimize data transfer.
The phone’s date and time are also sync’d to Internet time and more.

See here for the software (and why not donate some $s too) [4MB]: http://www.fjsoft.at/en/downloads.php

To use your computer’s keyboard: Install then once connected go to the “Extras” menu option and select “Phone keypad”:

This is what my phone looks like on my PC:
